In 1905, Albert Einstein introduced the theory of general relativity to the world. From his work came the conjecture that the origin of matter and energy constituting the universe evolved from a creation point. Prior to 1980, Einstein’s work on relativity, which was officially called the Theory of General Relativity, was accepted only as a theory because observational data to confirm its conclusions were not as of yet available. Only when scientific theories or hypothesis can be proven by the rigors of laboratory testing and hard data, can they be reclassified as scientific law. Finally, in 1980, Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity became scientific law when tests performed by a hydrogen maser clock (100 times more precise than the best atomic clock) on board the space shuttle verified this theory to within five places of the decimal (i.e. 0.00001), thereby moving this conjecture from theory to solid scientific law. This gave the study of science and mankind two extremely important discoveries. First, it confirmed that the Law of General Relativity was the only true mathematical model for how our universe functions. Secondly, it supported Einstein’s belief that the universe was brought into existence by way of a singular event, known as the “Big Bang” event. The “Big Bang” event proposes that all matter and energy contained in the universe began at a focal point and finite time frame, like an explosion, if you will. Prior to Einstein’s assertions and proof thereof, most scientists believed that the universe was infinite and the time we experience, eternal. Naturally, the public believed in the science of its day and agreed with the scientists who proposed these theories. Moreover, many religious holy books were in agreement with this hypothesis except one, the Holy Bible. The Bible stated that our universe was not infinite or time eternal. Instead, it made the bold claim that both time and the universe were created and finite, meaning they both have a beginning and an end.
Then, In 1965, an incredible discovery was made regarding our universe. Robert Wilson and Arno Penzias of Bell Laboratories discovered a uniform level of radiation throughout the universe, later identified as background radiation. Its existence was earlier confirmed by the independent mathematical calculations of Robert Dicke and James Peebles who predicted that radiation left over from the Big Bang event would be observable within the wavelength that Wilson and Penzias had found this radiation.(1) This was an extremely important discovery. It confirmed and gave total support for the Big Bang event. Since Einstein’s theories on general relativity mathematically proved the Big Bang correct, this discovery only further confirmed this truth.
The implications that the universe was created brought scientists to the next most important question they wanted to have answered. If the cosmos was created, was time created? If it could be proven that time was created, then there could be no question that our universe was brought into existence through a transcendent Creator. Because for something to be created, you need a Creator. This follows with one of the most basic laws in physics, the 1st law of Thermodynamics which states that matter cannot be created nor destroyed within its own system. In fact, the creation of our cosmos by the Big Bang specifies it is an open system under control and influence by another system, being God in this case. The next question to be answered, is there a beginning of time that could possibly coincide with the beginning and creation of our universe? In 1966, one year after cosmic background radiation was discovered by Wilson and Penzias, three of the world’s leading astrophysicists; Stephen Hawking, Roger Penrose and George Ellis embarked on a most complex journey into the deepest areas of mathematics to determine whether there was an origin to space and time as proposed by Einstein’s solutions of general relativity. After four years of research, these men published a position paper in 1970 which asserted that not only was there a beginning of matter and energy as Einstein claimed, but also of time
“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.” Robert Jastrow, Astrophysicist
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Albert Einstein, a Jew, believed in God. However, he believed in the God of Spinoza, a God that did not interact with human beings on a personal level. Both history and scripture proves that God does personally intereact with mankind. Moses was a perfect example, as God not only spoke to him but also showed Himself to Moses per his request! (read about the route of Exodus having been discovered under New Archeological Finds)
"When the LORD saw that he had caught Moses’ attention, God called to him from the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied. “Do not come any closer,” God told him. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he hid his face in his hands because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3: 4-6
"...He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose Him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, He was sent to the earth for all to see. And He did this for you..." 1 Peter 1:19-20
This scripture points to the fact that God chose Jesus Christ to be His Son long before He even created the earth, just as science has been able to prove, that is, that the Creator has lived eternally and outside of our cosmos.
